About The Market Hotel
The hotel has a large restaurant on the ground floor with a terrace on the Grote Markt and Nieuwe Markt, a high-end bar, a roof terrace and its own bakery. There is space for 123 rooms, spread over six floors. The hotel also has a basement with various functions, including a wellness area. A terrace will soon be built on the roof with an amazing view over the city of Groningen!

Café Willem Albert is located in the hotel. Willem Albert Scholten (1819-1892) can be considered the world's first agricultural industrialist. He founded about 24 factories, at home and abroad, in the field of potato flour, potato malt wine, straw cardboard, sugar and peat litter. Scholten was also co-director and major shareholder of the Nederlandsch- Amerikaansche Stoomvaart-Maatschappij (NASM). Nowadays the Holland America Line. His house was on the location where the Market Hotel now stands. In the kitchen of the Willem Albert Café we serve old Dutch dishes with a new twist.

A real catering man or woman, a host or hostess par excellence, that is you! You are at your best between the tables, behind the bar, around our guests and with the team. As a supervisor you support the Floor managers with leadership and management of a young and dynamic team. You do this while you walk along with the service or pour the drinks behind the bar. As an enthusiastic restaurant supervisor, you are operationally active!

A large restaurant with 200 seats inside, another 200 seats on the terrace on the Grote Markt and a roof terrace: Easy as peanuts? Certainly not! But you are happy to take on this challenge!

About The Market Hotel

The Market Hotel has 123 hotel rooms, spread over six floors. There is also a large restaurant called Café Willem Albert with a terrace on the Grote and Nieuwe Markt, with a high-end bar.

In the kitchen of the Willem Albert Café we serve old Dutch dishes with a new twist. The Market Hotel also has its own bakery, Bakkerij Westers. There are also meeting rooms and a Welcome Wellness where guests can go to the gym, for massages or to relax in the sauna.

A terrace is being created on the roof with an amazing view over the city of Groningen!

Someone who can work hard, but at the same time manages to maintain a good atmosphere? Then we are looking for you!

From mise en place to a beautiful creation on the plate, you feel at home in the kitchen and can show your skills here! It is no problem for you to be responsible for your own department in the kitchen.

When you arrive at work, you already encounter the cozy chaos. You greet your colleagues in the kitchen and wave to the busy bar and wait staff. You discuss with the chef what still needs to be done at the mise en place. Are there any details and will there be large groups? The tasks are divided. Together with your colleagues you ensure that the lunch dishes fly out the door and that everything is ready for another busy evening. In between you make a joke with the dishwasher, compliment your colleague with a nice dish and ask the waiter whether all guests are satisfied. Your shift is flying by!

The Market hotel has 123 rooms, spread over six floors. We offer 7 different room types for our guests, so there is something for everyone! On the ground floor we have a restaurant with 250 seats and two terraces. One terrace on the Grote Markt with 300 seats and one terrace on the Nieuwe Markt with approximately 50 seats. Due to the favorable location of our terrace on the East wall, you can enjoy the sun here for the longest time. The theme of our restaurant is old Dutch with a new look. Regarding the menu: Accessible is the new keyword. No fine-dining cuisine, but good food for everyone with a Dutch touch.
