Dinercafé Soestdijk has been in existence since 1992, which was later expanded with the adjacent De Groene Draeck. Founded by Herman Ensing (of Het Golden Fust and De Wolthoorn). Since 1997, JanBas van Aalderen has been in charge of the royal household. Everything is a bit dominated by royalties. The crown above the logo, the “king's meal” which changes daily, the entire interior with photos of the Royal House, everything is in line with the name Soestdijk.

The Soest
Soestdijk, or “De Soest” as connoisseurs call it, is located on the Grote Kromme Elleboog and is a household name in Groningen and far beyond. Once there were two princes behind the bar and Prince Maurits found his beloved Marilene here. It is still a meeting place where you can meet people from all backgrounds and where you can feel like king or queen. They are attracted by the conviviality and atmosphere, but also by the delicious food which can be ordered for a modest price. In addition to the royal meal, there is a variety of other royal meals. With fries that are more than worth it alone. There is an extensive menu and also a wine list that may be there. Starters, main courses, desserts, vegetarian, a balanced menu for responsible food and of course many small snacks for a drink or a princely beer.

Available every day because the cafe is open every day. Many guests have their "set day" and the café is therefore a meeting point for many different professional groups. A nice mix of ages is also an attractive feature.

At the back of the store you can walk to the Groene Draeck. The same conviviality also flows into each other. De Groene Draeck can also be hired for parties, drinks or gatherings. About 80 people can find their place from Sunday to Wednesday. On other days it gets a bit difficult, because then it is usually very busy.

The ministry is very personal and is called “the court”. On a slate are the names of those who serve the guests that evening. Without exception they are all cheerful, nice and above all concerned with the guests to ensure that they have a nice evening out.
