From Friday 19 to Sunday 21 December 2014, the eighth edition of WinterWelVaart will take place in the most beautiful part of the city center of Groningen: the quays of the Hoge and Lage der A and in the Northern Maritime Museum. Intimate concerts, lectures, theatre, film, a visual arts route and a cozy Christmas market are part of the free event. In this folder you will find more information about us and the program. For detailed descriptions, please visit www.winterwelvaart.nl
WinterWelVaart is an initiative of the Northern Maritime Museum, Neighborhood Association A-Kwartier and the Historical Sailing Association Groningen. WinterWelVaart is a three-day event for a wide audience that wants to keep the maritime history of the city and province alive in an accessible way. During the event, dozens of beautiful (historic) charter ships are moored at the quays of the Hoge and Lage der A and the Northern Maritime Museum is open to the public free of charge. The ships and the museum form the stages for a program full of music, theater and other special activities. And of course everyone can meet the skippers who make their ships accessible to the public and who are happy to tell about their work and the ships.
In addition to the versatile program on board the ships, there is also plenty to do on the mainland. On the quays of the A-Kwartier is an attractive Christmas market with many different stalls, various activities and all kinds of delicious snacks and drinks. The Northern Maritime Museum is the headquarters of WinterWelVaart with a beautiful exhibition, (children's) activities (also free) and a closing music program on Saturday.
