The 8th edition of the Whiskey Festival North Netherlands will once again be held in the Der Aa church in the heart of Groningen, from 22 to 24 March 2013. In 7 years, this non-profit festival, which extends from board to festival employees on the floor is completely run by volunteers, has grown into a serious international festival with big names that is gaining international recognition.
In 2012, the festival attracted nearly 5000 visitors from all over the country and far beyond, rivaling the established major commercial festivals. And where other festivals now charge sky-high entrance fees, the entrance fee for a session of Whiskey Festival Noord-Nederland is still € 25,00!!
Unfortunately, chairman Renie Jas and co-founder Albert Heidema had to resign from their board duties due to personal circumstances, so we had to look for new board members and found Myra Louwes, Denis Weening and Johannes van Duinen. They are brimming with ideas, so that bodes well for the coming year. In any case, we have big plans for 2013, completely in line with the friendly character of our festival.
During the festival there will of course again be a wide range of master classes on various topics and of course many well-known names from the whiskey industry and many internationally renowned writers will be present.
And how could it be otherwise, this time too a unique Whiskey dinner will be held on the eve of the festival (Thursday evening March 21, 2013), but now at a completely new TOP location, with a new TOP Chef and with new surprises , but of course under the direction of Martine Nouet.
And of course the festival will again be packed with beautiful whiskeys and beautiful tastings and therefore a must for every whiskey connoisseur, from beginner to the real enthusiast, but this time there will also be extra attention for the real spoiled whiskey drinker. During these new special VIP packages it will be possible to participate in very exclusive sessions with well-known Whiskey men and women in the luxury of the VIP lounge in small groups (maximum 6-12 people), where special tastings will also be held. So a real VIP treatment!
