For years this steakhouse has had a permanent place on the Grote Markt, under the Drie Gezusters. A little hidden in the vaulted cellar, recognizable by the red neon letters on the facade. In the past it started as Rib House Bronco, but as more and more types of grilled meat were added to the menu over the years, the name was changed.

Thick steaks
'The restaurant once started as a business where the inspiration came from America', says owner Just van Bodegom. 'Bronco is an American horse and the stars and stripes can still be found here and there.' But the real American feeling must come from the menu. It features spareribs and thick steaks, from the grill of course. From a butcher's shop in Hoogezand.

Plenty to choose from
Picanha, ribeye, t-bone and tenderloin in various sizes. With the choice of various sauces to top it off. How about creamy mushroom, green peppercorn, garlic blue cheese or a nice fresh chimichurri. There is also a wide choice of hamburgers, a surf & turf dish and a few burritos.
Extinguishing with a nice cold beer? Brouwerij Eggens is well represented in Bronco, and deliciously local.

Vegan burger
There is also room for non-meat eaters at Bronco. 'You simply can't ignore that these days', says Just. That is why the steakhouse now also has a vegan dish on the menu: the vegan hamburger (from Redefine meat) with vegan cheese and vegan bread. 'If I make it for you with an egg and a slice of bacon on it, it is indistinguishable from the real thing', says Just. 'We were the very first in Groningen to serve it', he adds.
Then there is a small menu with grilled fish and a cheese fondue. In short, something for everyone.

For everyone
The cliché that only large groups of meat-eating men would sit in the steakhouse does not apply here. 'We are really there for everyone', Just explains. 'We regularly have bachelor parties, but we also have couples, people with their children or football clubs who have something to celebrate. And we are busiest when the TT is on.'
