Friday 6 October was the grand opening of Bodega and Tapas† Matthijs Vinckemöller, the founder, claims to create the best tapas in Groningen, and combines this with a small but cozy cocktail menu.
Because it is always a hassle whether you take the patatas bravas for € 2.- or the squid rings for € 3. Bodega y Tapas takes a different approach: unlimited food. For € 17,50 (Tues, Weds, Thurs & Sun) or € 22,50 (Fri & Sat) per person you can enjoy unlimited tasty snacks and a cozy atmosphere.
“Why another tapas restaurant in Groningen?” we asked Matthijs.
In the Business Administration study you will learn about consumer pull and producer push. Are tapas the latest trend (like sushi) or has Spain run out of small bites since Catalonia has been thwarting? Matthijs says that he wants to bring tasty tapas. No chains, no warm-up hassles, just well prepared by experienced tapas chefs.

Matthijs has been the owner of Grand Café de Confessional, which, as you know, is the restaurant where you can enjoy heavenly dishes under the watchful eye of the huge collection of saints.
He told us that he has been toying with the idea of opening a tapas place for a year or two. After many trips to different regions of Spain, plus experiencing how Spanish snacks should be served, Matthijs decided: I'm going to do it myself. After all, he already owned the building that houses Bodega Y tapas.
taste bud
A small challenge was to adapt the menu to the Dutch (Groningen) taste bud. We like spare ribs, for example, and eat less fish, says Matthijs. However, we think this has been completely successful. The snacks that went around were delicious, and what we ordered ourselves later was also really great. We didn't touch the cocktails, but judging by the sangria that came out of the bodega, they must be good too.
Since we suspect that the news of good tapas will spread quickly, we advise you to book quickly.
