Households spend 6000 euros a year on entertainment. The majority of holidays and in the catering industry. According to the National Budget Survey (CBS), singles under the age of 65 spend relatively the most in the hospitality industry compared to their total expenditure on entertainment. But the 'Big Spenders' in the Dutch hospitality industry are couples with at least one adult child. They spend an average of 2080 euros per year.
Compare that with the budget of singles under 65: about 870 euros per year. The average expenditure of all households on catering is 1322 euros. That is 4% of the total household pot. Good for ninth place in the ranking of what an average household spends money on.

About the National Budget Survey
CBS conducts the National Budget Survey on the basis of a sample of private households. As a result, the figures mentioned are not 100% reliable, but they give a good indication of spending per household.
