HThe couple Frans and Liesbeth Kappenburg will be the sole shareholder of the restaurant from January 1, 2020 The Rietschance on the Meerweg in Haren. The Kappenburg couple recently reached agreement on the takeover of half of the shares owned by the Fred and Ilona Dalebout couple. The other half was already in the possession of Frans and Liesbeth Kappenburg. The daily management of restaurant De Rietschans will be in the hands of a four-person management team.
Takeover
The takeover puts an end to the collaboration between the couples Kappenburg and Dalebout. A collaboration that started in 2008, when Fred Dalebout started as general manager of the Martinihotel in the center of Groningen. Two years later, Fred Dalebout and his wife Ilona became half owners of the Martin Hotel Group (MGH). Then still consisting of the Martini hotel. Then Budget hostel and the renowned Weev restaurant.
Extension
In the years that followed, the Martini Hotel Group was expanded with the Brinkhotel in Zuidlaren and the Tavern Rabenhaupt at the Zuiderdiep in Groningen. Messrs Kappenburg and Dalebout bought restaurant De Rietschans on the Paterswoldsemeer in 2013. After a complete renovation, this company burned to the ground 80 days after reopening. In September 2016, a rebuilt and ultra-modern restaurant De Rieschans with an impressive lakeside terrace was able to receive its first guests again.
De Rietschans was not part of the Martini Hotel Group, but did involve the services and management of the hotel group. Frans and Liesbeth Kappenburg are now fully focusing on the companies that they operate or will operate on Meerweg in Haren. Earlier they also took the initiative for the construction of the beach pavilion Paterswoldsemeer, also on the Meerweg. The exploitation of this pavilion is now in the hands of a management team.
The Kappenburg couple is directly involved in the development of the Motel Haren project, which has recently been given the name Nescio Hotel Haren bears, at the end of Emmalaan near the entrances and exits of the A28 motorway. After the current buildings have been demolished, a hotel with 120 rooms and 100 apartments is to be built in a number of blocks at this location. The first discussions about these plans with the municipality of Groningen are going well.
The Martini Hotel Group of the Dalebout couple recently expanded its activities in the city center of Groningen with the opening of Bar 1672 on the Gedempte Zuiderdiep. A new catering concept has been set up in a monumental building with a rich history, which is mainly intended to allow guests to enjoy drinks and food in peace. The companies of Fred and Ilona Dalebout are mainly concentrated around the Martini Hotel on the Zuiderdiep.
