Eand year after the fire, Pacific is back, and it just got even more fun and beautiful. A completely new interior, a beautiful Conservatory and courtyard garden, 35 beers and ciders on tap and more than 100 bottled. And almost all dishes on the new menu are smoked and/or barbecued. In your own garden or on the Josper. Even the vegetables and the gravy! But still the same vibe; a wonderfully laid back atmosphere as you find in New Zealand and Australia. And of course still Alistair, a real proud Kiwi, as host.
The interior of this building from the 12th century, one of the oldest buildings in Groningen (!!!), has a vintage look, combined with industrial details. For example, there is a comfortable Chesterfield sofa against a wall with a jungle-like, botanical print. At the back of the 12th century brick wall with gold-coloured lights. The Serre is also completely new, which overlooks the Inner City Garden, where you can actually see the cooks barbecuing.

The menu is designed like a newspaper, with stories about the building and the people who work there. It even has a crossword puzzle about the case and Down Under. You can choose between shared dining (small plates with, for example, New Zealand Barramundi), beautiful vegadishes (smoked veggies), large meat dishes (up to Tomahawks from the Josper grill) and Kiwi Burgers and Aussie Pies. And everything smoked or from the bbq. Afterwards, Alistair comes by with a large tray full of desserts.
Eating or drinking at Pacific feels like being on vacation. Sunday, August 26, Pacific will celebrate Australia Day, with a major fundraiser for the Firefighters who are now fighting so hard to fight the massive fires. Good that Pacific got out of the fire itself and opened the doors again!
