Lovely large Chesterfield sofas in a, according to owner Koen Hoiting, a messy but organized setting. He calls it the living room of Groningen. It is a bit hidden, on the Uurwerkersplein in Stad.
Pizzas
A household name for ten years. Mainly because of the delicious pizzas for which the business is known. The city students in particular know how to like the place. Largely due to its location, between the various locations of the university. But also because of the cozy, accessible setting and the affordable dishes. For example, there are a few good burgers on the menu, but also a 300 gram piece of ribeye. Actually something for everyone...
Full day
The nice thing about the Uurwerker is that you can actually sit there all day long. You come in for lunch, then have a drink and finish with dinner. On Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays there is always a DJ so you can also have a little dance before you go home on your bike.
Bistro Timeframe
De Uurwerker has had a sister for a year now: Bistro Tijdsbek. Across the street from the 'big' Uurwerker. However, it is accessible from the inside. "That's where the map starts where it ends with the Uurwerker," says manager Franke Jongboom. 'It's more refined and it's much more about the food there. For example, we have dishes with scallops, steak tartare, and good wines. The kitchen and bar are in the middle. It is also much quieter there, while you look out at the hustle and bustle clockworker. '
Mixture
While the bistro offers more shared dining in smaller groups, groups are more likely to be found at De Uurwerker. 'Students or groups of friends who visit each other here and have a nice drink together, a real mix,' says Hoiting. He continues: 'During the week it is mainly students who come here. Sometimes they also bring their parents and have something to eat here.'
Families with children
'From Friday afternoon you will see a lot of starters,' Jongboom adds. “Early 30s or XNUMXs. They either come with work or with friends. Tourists and people outside the city also know where to find us during the weekend. On Sundays you often see families with young children. Often the people who came here years ago for dinner and drinks before they had children. It's very nice to see that group again.'
The Clockworker
It is located diagonally opposite the Clockworker clockworker. A beautifully beautiful space with TV screen and bar, suitable for groups of up to 60/70 people. Handy for a graduation drink…
