Culinary journey of discovery
You can go on a culinary trip around the world, thanks to the experiences of the fictional world traveler Mr. Mofongo himself. The business is already a journey of discovery in itself, with all the stairs, exciting corners and different floors mixed together. There is something to see everywhere and you will be surprised every time. Lots of ingenuity such as robot arms in the cocktail bar, moving spice racks or a fully automatic wine cellar, where you are presented with the information about your chosen wine on a screen in the floor.
Harmonious atmosphere
Patrick Beijk's business is in good hands with chef Arno Miedema and manager Justin van der Veen. They proudly talk about 'their' company. What immediately stands out, and is later confirmed several times, is the harmonious atmosphere that hangs there. A versatile company with so many employees can quickly become impersonal. Bee mr. mofongo isn't that the case. Precisely because the team is young and passionate and there is good cooperation, there is plenty of room for everyone to develop. They therefore do not have a shortage of personnel here. And that is an unprecedented luxury in this day and age.
'People come back for the satay and the ribs'
'At Mr. Mofongo offers good food for a good price, where service and quality are of paramount importance to us,' says Justin. The cuisine is not French or Mediterranean cuisine, but truly a world cuisine. Lunch and dinner are served in the restaurant on the ground floor. According to Arno, the guests always come back for the satay and the ribs. Those ribs have now been given a special jerk sauce that is spicy and sweet. In addition, they serve a grilled fish with always three types of fresh fish, taking into account the season. There are pasta specials that change every week, as well as chef's specials that cover all corners of the world.
Wine bar with shared dining
In the wine bar, on the top floor, the concept is shared dining. Think of tiradito (kind of ceviche but slightly different) with salmon, flammkuchen, roasted cauliflower with gochujang or simply delicious oysters. With a wide choice of both vegetarian and vegan dishes. Because yes, there is a lot of demand for that, says Arno.
The wine bar works with a 'wine by the glass' system, (Coravin) whereby wine can be poured through the cork with a needle. Thanks to this system, they serve about 70 wines by the glass. Super handy if you want to taste some more special wines, but don't want to order a whole bottle right away. On the map many wines from the new world such as Israel, Lebanon and Morocco. This way you can easily get acquainted with different types of wine.
Spectacular cocktail bar
The cocktail bar is a spectacle. A high wall with colors containing dozens of bottles of liquor. The drink is 'tapped' with the help of a robot arm. Worth seeing with your own eyes for the show effect alone. The drink that is served there also comes from our own distillery. You should definitely try the limoncello and the salty caramel liqueurs!
