Their café is located in the nicest entertainment area of the city of Groningen. This is what Roos Brinkman and her manager Wouter Eilering, of Dinercafé Soestdijk, think. With the Pintelier and Café Wolthoorn just around the corner. And because it is not located in the middle of the traditional entertainment area of the city, the atmosphere is very pleasant.
"When you enter our café, you really feel like you're coming home," says Wouter. 'It is very accessible, a place for everyone. For young and old, and also for families.'
Blue blood
Soestdijk has been around for 30 years and is a fairly traditional Café according to the owner. Several princes and princesses have also worked here: Maurits, Marilène and Bernhard, among others. Maurits and Marilène even met here. 'She worked as a waiter and he worked behind the bar,' says Wouter. 'This is where they fell in love with each other.' Maurits and Marilene's children also know where to find the café and regularly drop by for a breath of fresh air.
Guest first
'Everything is always possible with us,' says Roos, 'that makes our café unique. Although of course everyone in the hospitality industry always puts the guest first, which is why you are in this business.' 'We always think in terms of possibilities,' Wouter adds. 'For example, if a group suddenly comes in, we push everything aside to ensure that they can sit comfortably. We are always open to anything and there is always one of us here. I think that also makes people feel welcome and we have many regular guests. Nothing is too crazy for us'
King's meal
According to Roos, what makes the café unique is the beautiful transition from lunch, drinks, dinner to party café. For lunch you can choose from different types of luxury sandwiches. Various shared dining dishes are perfect for drinks and there is an a la carte menu for dinner. 'This ranges from a simple satay to a beautiful tenderloin steak, vegetarian dishes or a piece of tuna from the grill. But we also respond to the seasons with dishes such as mussels and asparagus.
In addition, there is a so-called king's meal; a daily snack that is different every day. Sometimes there is a stew, another day a pork tenderloin with a mustard-bacon sauce. 'Always nicely priced,' says Roos.
