Ordering in sign language, increasing gun ownership in nightlife, never smoking at the Mac again, D'olle Grieze locked, tipping these days? What has happened this week in the Groningen catering industry? You read it here.
Order in sign language
If the crowdfunding project is successful, you can order a beer in sign language at café Luhu from this autumn. Luhu will open in the clubhouse for the deaf on the city's Munnekeholm and will also become a training company. To keep it accessible, you can of course order in all kinds of ways. Join the crowdfunding.
More gun ownership in nightlife
Various security companies that regulate security in Groningen's nightlife report an increase in gun ownership. Age plays a determining role in this. Nightlife crowds have become more aggressive than a few years ago and young people are more likely to carry smaller weapons, especially knives. This gun ownership among young people occurs in all layers of the population.
Never smoke at the Mac again
Fast food chain McDonald's will be the first large catering establishment in the Netherlands to make all its terraces smoke-free. From the end of this summer, it is no longer allowed to smoke on the terrace or in front of the door in Groningen, among other places. With this step, the chain offers a smoke-free working environment for its employees and a terrace where everyone can enjoy their meal without smoking.
Café D'olle Grieze locked
The municipality of Groningen will close Café D'olle Grieze in the Haddingestraat for a period of at least 3 months. This closure was partly the result of an investigation into drug nuisance and dealing, with the sad low point being last weekend's shooting in the street in which a 50-year-old from Leeuwarden was killed and several injured.
Is tip still relevant today?
The catering industry has noticed it for some time, the tips are declining. According to research from one today, this trend has accelerated due to the increasing staff shortage. Less manpower, so less service affects the tips and because the prices have risen, the guest is more critical of the service. In addition, there is also a general shift in standards and reasons are being sought to tip less in order to compensate for price increases. So there is still a lot to gain with good service.
Until the next flash!
