A new anti-explosive measure is being used by the Dutch banks and money partner. With immediate effect, all ATMs will be closed between 23 p.m. and 00 a.m.
The machines are turned off, but not emptied. Turning off the machines makes it more difficult for thieves to successfully empty ATMs, De Telegraaf reports. Depositing loose banknotes, which is possible at some machines, is no longer possible at night.
The opening hours of safes where sealbags can be deposited by business bank customers will remain unchanged.
