From 3 to 11 September 2016, the restaurant edition of the National Mussel Week will take place for the second time. This week is all about the Zeeland mussel. Restaurants can participate by putting a mussel menu or dish on the menu. Are you in?
After the great success of last year, in which 300 restaurants took part, it was decided to organize a mussel week again this year. The idea comes from the Zeeland mussel sector and is intended to introduce the Netherlands to the salty delicacy.
Mussels food experience
Mussels are a unique natural product and above all, eating mussels is an experience. Belgium has long been the most important sales market for the mussel sector. The 'moules frites' can be found here on every menu. Tilly Sintnicolaas of Het Nederlands Musselbureau: “Just like last year, we want to raise awareness of the Zeeland mussels in the Netherlands. We see many opportunities for restaurants and we want to support them by means of a promotional campaign in which consumers are invited to eat mussels at participating restaurants during the National Mussel Week. The week has a dual purpose: Dutch restaurants can show what they have to offer and it is great for the mussel sector that extra attention is paid to the wonderful product of Zeeland mussels.”
