Hotels, restaurants, snack bars and cafes generated 0,5 percent more turnover in the second quarter than in the first quarter of 2016, CBS reports.
The volume, the number of drinks and overnight stays, decreased slightly. The turnover of restaurants and hotels rose the most in the second quarter, while snack bars had to make do with less turnover compared to the previous quarter.
Today CBS also publishes the quarterly monitor catering with more information about the hospitality industry, including holiday parks, canteens and catering.

Restaurants and hotels biggest increase
Turnover from hotels and restaurants rose the most, at 1 percent. The turnover growth of both branches was higher than in the first quarter. Cafés realized almost the same turnover in the second quarter as in the previous quarter.
Within the catering industry, the turnover of snack bars, including lunchrooms, fast food restaurants, meal delivery companies and ice cream parlors, was the only one to decline (-0,7 percent). The volume, roughly the number of drinks sold, also decreased by 0,9 percent compared to the previous quarter.

Almost 5 percent more turnover for catering than a year ago
The hotel and catering industry's turnover was almost 5 percent more than in the second quarter of 2015. The growth was more than 7 percent higher in the two previous quarters, but all branches also realized more turnover. Snack bars recorded the largest increase at 6,6 percent. Hotels, restaurants and cafes each posted more than 4 percent revenue growth. For the catering industry, both volume and prices were 2,4 percent higher than one year previously.
