The Misset Horeca Terrace Top 100 that started in April this year resulted in a good result for Groningen in terms of the Audience Award. The Ludina Terrace on Turfsingel took first place with 1340 votes in the Audience Award category. The professional jury of the Top 100 placed the terrace on the 22e place and with that it is also the provincial winner.
The winner of the Terrace Top 100 is Restaurant The Hay House in Roosendaal. But with an overwhelming display of power, The Ludina Terrace in Groningen to win the Terrace Top 100 2016 Audience Award. The popular terrace, part of Cafe De Toeter, made a huge final sprint in the final days of the voting round and managed to leave the number two behind with 466 votes, according to Misset Hospitality.
Facebook votes
All terraces that took part in the contest to be declared the best terrace of 2016 were invited to invite their guests to vote for them via Facebook. Many companies did this with original rewards for the voters. The Ludina Terrace therefore came up with the idea to raffle a brewing workshop for seven people and to give 100 bottles of this home-brewed beer as a gift. Partly due to this raffle, but also by continuing to ask whether people would like to cast their vote, the Ludina Terrace has raked in an impressive number of votes.
Ludina Terrace
The winning terrace is situated on top of the Groningen tjalk Ludina. This terrace is the first in Groningen that is located on the water. Guests are served from the sister ship called De Rikste from 1910. The ship houses the Rockin' Ludina Brewery; Cascade Hop grows in the mast, inspiring the brewers to brew various beers, from the 'Barbarossa' to the 'Noah's Ark'.
At the Ludina Terrace the beers can be tasted, guests can have lunch and taste various tapas or beer-and-food dishes. When Misset Horeca asked what important points are on the terrace, owner Maik van Heerd uses the following terms: hospitality, etiquette, upselling, the home-brewed beer, fast service and saying goodbye to the guest.
Groningen
In addition to winning the Audience Award, the professional jury of the Misset Horeca awarded the Ludina Terrace with the 22e place in the Top 100. With this place in the ranking, the terrace is also the provincial winner of Groningen.
