The first round of the ranking for the best café in the Netherlands has been completed. All cafés registered for the Misset Horeca Café Top 100 2016 were visited by mystery visitors and no fewer than 135 cafés have advanced to the second round. On to the second round; the jury round.
The first round consisting of mystery visits has resulted in 125 cafés that, after a visit and assessment, have advanced to the second round of the ranking, reports Misset Hospitality† The list of dropouts has also been reviewed by the Main Jury and ten wildcards have been awarded based on previous experience and achievements. So a total of 135 cases are through to the second round, the professional jury round.
Expert jury round
A team of approximately twenty men and women will visit the selected catering establishments in the coming weeks. These persons form the professional jury and have earned their spurs in recent years in the café sector of the catering industry.
A few people from this jury will visit and assess the cafes based on a visit of at least 45 minutes. Both drinks and food are ordered and aspects such as hospitality, presentation, hygiene, product handling, craftsmanship, business management and entrepreneurship are taken into account. The visits have already started and will last until the end of August.
Audience Award
The Audience Award campaign also started on 13 June. Each cafe in the top 125 receives a package with promotional material to promote the campaign among its guests.
Final: Main Jury Round
The mystery visits count for 20% for the final score and the jury visit for 80%. Around the end of August and the beginning of September, the 135 businesses will be notified whether or not they are in the Café Top 100 of the year 2016. Then the five or six best cafes receive a telephone message that they have made it to the Main Jury Round.
This jury will visit on 4 or 5 October for a final assessment in which they will talk to the entrepreneur and take a look behind the scenes at the company. After this, the final ranking is determined.
Announcement
The announcement of the Misset Horeca Café Top 100 takes place on Monday 7 November 2016 in Hilversum. All companies that have made it into the top 100 will receive a personal invitation. Make a note in your diary on November 7 from 19.00 p.m. to 23.00 p.m.!
During this festive evening, in addition to the Top 100, the provincial winners and the Audience Award will also be announced.
Research Reports
The reports of the mystery visitors and the jury visits will be sent to the entrepreneur the day after the announcement event via the e-mail address provided at the time of registration. If this e-mail address changes in the meantime, this change can be passed on via cafetop100@vakmedianet.nl.
