Entrepreneurs from sectors that have had a decrease in turnover of more than 40% due to the corona measures can qualify for a financial compensation. The municipality of Groningen has made 2,9 million euros available for this from the previous TONK scheme (Temporary Support for Necessary Costs). Together with previously announced support measures, this should ensure economic recovery and new entrepreneurial prospects within the hardest hit sectors.

The long-term corona crisis and the various lockdowns have especially caused financial problems for entrepreneurs from a few specific sectors. The effects of the crisis are still noticeable in these sectors. Based on research figures from Statistics Netherlands (Central Bureau of Statistics), it was examined which sectors in Groningen had a decline in turnover of more than 40%. The companies in these sectors are eligible for the allowance
Groningen-based entrepreneurs from the worst affected sectors may be eligible for an incidental contribution of €1500 per entrepreneur. They can request this financial contribution from Tuesday 15 March 2022 via the website of the municipality. Applications can only be made for companies with the correct SBI codes (Standard Business Classification) from Statistics Netherlands.
The application form is under the title 'Reimbursement Specific Sectors Groningen' on the 'Support for entrepreneurs during coronavirus' webpage. This is also where the other measures to support entrepreneurs in the municipality of Groningen are located.
