It itches when I drive through beautiful Limburg 3 weeks ago. The asparagus beds are provided with plastic to give the white gold a helping hand.
I don't think twice and call my friend Huub Meinardi to go over the state of affairs in the Groningen countryside. Meinardi: “The ground is still a bit too cold, but the expectation is that the production has started nicely at the end of March and just before Easter!”. Fortunately, I have already completed the selection and is supported by the Brabant Asparagus Wine Competition: our Gros Manseng from Gilles Baumann (France, Casgogne) has been chosen as asparagus wine 2012.
Of course there are more beautiful combinations (Muscat, Viognier and of course the mild Pinot Blanc) but head and shoulders this wine is made from the Gros Manseng grape.
We have plenty of this wine in stock so let the asparagus come friend!
