Slowly time ticks by, but so does the rain… are we getting a bit despondent?! Or do we pretend we're crazy and force summer? Yes we do; I help.
The weather is more changeable than ever it seems: downpours; storm; whirlwinds and when the sun gets the chance it is hot and stuffy. Take off your jacket, put on your sunglasses and voilà: a downpour. Umbrella and rain jacket back on.
Rained out, the guest enters and is disappointed; how do you make this a good catering entrepreneur? The answer must lie in: heat; refreshing and pleasantly dry. I say: Altos d'Olivia GRAN RESERVA 2004.
The Gran Reserva is almost always the best wine a Spanish wine producer can make. In this case, the grapes come from the Catalunya wine region, west and south of Barcelona. The vineyards (Cabernet Sauvignon 40%, Termpranillo 30% and Garnacha) are quite close to the famous Priorato wine region. The yields here are low, which benefits the quality of the wine. After fermentation, this Gran Reserva matures for 36 months in oak barrels and then a few years in bottle. The result is a beautifully matured red Spanish wine of high quality. Let the wine feel and taste like a dry blanket that gives warmth from within.
Perfect as a comforting aperitif and perfect with light meat dishes. Gently time is ticking towards higher temperatures.
