Last winter I tasted the fantastic wines of winemaker Markus Huber. He has already won the Falstaff Grüner Veltliner Grand Prix four times and was also selected as “Best White Wine Producer” during the London International Wine and Spirit Competition.
Markus Huber owns some 25 hectares of vineyards in the best locations – climatically, Traisental with cool nights and warm days is reminiscent of Burgundy, which lies on the same latitude – and is now part of Austria's premier league. Under the HUGO label, the exemplary fragrant and dry grüner veltliner, which is made with care. The modern, fresh look does justice to the aromatic and pure, expressive taste. This is a popular value-priced wine from Huber, fermented in stainless steel tanks and then fermented for a further three months for a full, round taste. This is like a tailor-made suit, but HUGO, made by Markus Huber.
