Wouter Verkerk is breaking new ground with his publications about the hospitality industry in which the employees in this industry are central. Verkerk will present his latest book at the Horecabeurs Noord Nederland on Monday 1 October in the Martinikerk in Groningen, Help! I have a (part-time) job in the hospitality industry! Chef Tjitze van der Dam receives the first copy of the book. The culinary talent Van der Dam has received numerous awards for his groundbreaking and sustainable ideas. He is also a member of the jury at Ready Cook, the successful cooking competition during the fair.
The Horecabeurs Noord Nederland will experience its seventh edition on the first Monday of October. Exhibition organizer Joris van Berkel has 60 exhibitors this year and is delighted with the arrival of Verkerk.
With his publications he wants to introduce a new vision on the modern hospitality industry. It fits in with the philosophy of the fair not only to let companies promote their products, but to improve the quality of the industry in the broadest sense of the word.
Book presentation
Verkerk not only presents his latest book, but also gives a masterclass in hospitality. “The current hospitality landscape is dominated by staff shortages. Too bad, because right now it is also harvest time. The guest seems to have an insatiable appetite for catering and hospitality, nothing more frustrating than not being able to respond to that because you simply don't have the right people or methodologies,'' says Verkerk.Beer
A second interesting guest during the fair is Ivo Thijssen. He is a cicerone and beer sommelier and has been giving tastings and training since 2012 to make catering staff and private individuals enthusiastic about beer. Training and advice in beer handling, sales and presentation have been his main occupation in recent years. Since the beginning of 2018, Ivo has been one of the three certified Cicerones in the Netherlands.
Barman
Suzanne Diepstra, best Barista at the fair two years ago, will give a master class about a new trend in the rapidly growing interest in coffee in the hospitality industry, mixing coffee with drinks. The different brewing methods and types of coffee beans offer a huge variety of flavours, aromas, body and mouthfeel and are therefore an excellent ingredient for cocktails. She introduces the trade fair visitor to this new discipline in the coffee world; Coffee in Good Spirits!
There are still a few places available for the masterclasses of Ivo Thijssen and Wouter Verkerk.
