Judging and regulations
The Terrace Top 100 has been announced by Misset Horeca since 2008. All terraces that are freely accessible, have at least 30 chairs, where people are served at the table and that are open at least 5 days a week in high season, are allowed to participate. This year, almost 400 terraces have registered. In the first round they were visited by mystery visitors. The highest scoring 125 advanced to round two. The bar for this was high, an 8,9 was the minimum grade to go on. In round 2, the professional jury visited. They assessed the terrace on mostly the same points as the mystery visitors, but through the eyes of the professional.
A terrace visit lasts at least 40 minutes, is anonymous and there is always something to eat and drink. In total the jury members fill in a questionnaire of about 10 A4 pages, whereby attention is paid to stopping power, cleanliness, furniture, greeting, taking orders, appearance of company, terrace and employees, serving, clearing, paying and much more. In the end, there are 100 companies left. And the top of the list is once again visited by the main jury. These are announced one-hour visits. Here the entrepreneur can tell his story and a look is taken before and behind the scenes. Based on these visits, the main jury re-ranks the top of the list.
