Bowling Center Groningen the Kattendiep is celebrating its half-century this year. This is celebrated on March 30 and it is therefore a party.
In 1968 one of the first bowling centers in the Netherlands was built in the building on the Kattendiep, where Garage Century (VW) was previously located. In the beginning Bowling Groningen was part of Bowling Nederland NV. Soon several associations became known under names such as Bowling Eagles, Bowling Pirates and Black Velvet. Some of the former members still bowl at what is now called Bowling Vereniging Groningen.
Competitions
You can visit it every day of the week. There are various house competitions in which (catering) companies, groups of friends, students and families participate. These teams bowl weekly, biweekly or monthly. The Bowling Club bowls every Tuesday.
Bowling Groningen has special arrangements for groups such as children's parties, school classes and students. Once a month there is Disco Bowling. Hard beats with good sound, atmospheric light effects and of course the fun make the Disco Bowling a successful outing
Many Groningen residents have celebrated their children's party at the Kattendiep. Later on, they come back with their children or grandchildren to have fun bowling. Students who have been there come back later with their children or bachelor party. People keep returning to bowl recreationally or join a league.
Technique
The pencil to keep track of scores has long been a thing of the past. The scores are now kept up to date with modern computer-controlled technology. Last summer there was a major renovation and 10 new bowling alleys were installed.
Officially exists Bowling Groningen March 29 2018 50 years. On the 30th of March this year (Good Friday) a big party will be organized for invited guests.
Various promotions will be organized throughout the year, so that everyone in Groningen can celebrate the anniversary.
