When Prime Minister Mark Rutte called on entrepreneurs in the Netherlands on April 7 to think about a 1,5 meter application in various sectors, HorecaBrains immediately consulted its members.
The supporters of Catering brains With 300 catering entrepreneurs and 800 catering locations, it gives a good picture of what is going on in the industry. 80% of the members have a combination of food and drink function and 20% have a function only in the 'wet catering' (café / bar / club)
Horecabrains hopes for a quick opening of the catering industry in a responsible manner. If this has to be done with a 1,5 meter catering industry, then it has to be, but opening is a priority to start the entire industry.
Solutions
Many solutions have come from the restaurant / terraces branch to deal with 1,5 meters, in combination with any delivery or other activities that are developed during this crisis, a temporary turnover of 70% can be achieved. With good financial support from the government, until we can run at 100%, a large part of the catering industry must be able to survive this crisis.
The sounds from the 'wet' catering industry were logically more negative, a 1,5 meter society in a cafe or a club is not workable. †
'A suitable solution must be found for this part of the industry,'' says Martijn Veen of Horecabrains.
A widely supported Corona App in combination with testing, self-discipline and initially age and regionally selected target groups would be an opportunity to open the cafe or club without having the guests move 1,5 meters away from each other. Employees who come into direct contact with guests should then wear a face mask. Of course there are more protocols that the entertainment venues could adhere to.
“In this way we prevent the total loss of a wonderful discipline within the hospitality industry. It is quickly forgotten that the cafe, but also the club is a place where people come together and, for example, meet the love of their lives, a super important place in society''
Privacy issues
Of course we also hear the noises regarding privacy and an app, but it cannot be the case that in this time, where Facebook has 1,3 billion users worldwide, we let privacy problems stop us and let the economy stand still and perhaps wipe out entire industries. We see the app as nothing more than a mandatory ID check at the door. That is now also allowed and nobody falls for it.
We would like to help the government with support for the App to be developed and make it mandatory for access. Not mandatory for everyone, but for those who want to use the Horeca and other industries could follow, for example the other branches that are still locked.
"In any case, we can't wait to get started in a responsible manner as soon as possible." Said a combative Veen.
