@STUGTV #LOA2013 @cateringgroningen
Who will be the nicest bartender from Groningen? Beat that question STUFF en Catering Groningen joined forces and created a competition to stimulate the catering industry.
In the beginning, the election was entirely up to the public. Via social media, TV and radio we called on the townspeople to give up their favorite bartender. This resulted in 75 participants.
The preliminary round took place online. The top 10 with the most Facebook likes advanced to the semifinals. +/- 4500 votes have been cast.
To publicize these finalists, each week 1 was featured in both STUG Radio and TV. We also launched a site with information and videos. People could continue to vote via that site and via Facebook. We covered the city with posters and regional newspapers picked up the game. We also wrote about it on our page in the magazine of the Hanze University of Applied Sciences.
During the final, the participants performed assignments that were assessed by a jury. The public also had a voice again, both on paper and digitally. The night mayor counted all the points and votes, while the public sympathized via a live Twitter feed.
Not unimportant; the entire competition was created free of charge. With only volunteers and sponsors we set up a successful competition that took place on radio, TV, print, web and during an event. You can get a lot done in exchange for a cool product, right?
On Friday 24 May, the broadcasters will have 15 minutes to present themselves to the jury. The way they do this is completely free. The aim is to give the jury an impression of what the broadcaster does and what it stands for.
After the presentation by the broadcaster, the jury has the opportunity to question the representatives of the broadcaster.
The Local Broadcasting Awards and the announcement of The Local Broadcasting of the Year are on Friday 7 June 2013.
