The month of October has already passed and this means that cocktail country is already fighting hard for the most prestigious prize within the bartender scene: Diageo World Class Best Bartender Competition.
Just a small summary of this world famous competition. Every year, drinks giant Diageo organizes the most appealing bartenders competition in the world. The best of each country represents his or her national pride during the Grande Finale, where the best in the world can show their bartender skills. This year's Mea Culpa will take place in Cape Town, South Africa.
Groningen is well represented in the Netherlands this year with 3 bartenders. It concerns Lennart Deddens, Roger de Haan (CKNN champion) and Elsbeth Hoekstra. All working in the famous cocktail bar of Mr. mofongo, Mofongo's Distillery on the Oude Boteringestraat in the city. After Deddens narrowly missed the world final last year due to an error in the very last shake off and thus became third in the Netherlands, the Groningers have 3 trumps up their sleeve this year. Fingers crossed for Mr. So Mofongo!
