the cafes The castle, Snow Valley and Coyote's Bar filed for bankruptcy last week. The owner of the catering business, Luigi Etzi, could no longer pay his tax debts.
The three pubs located in Peperstraat and Gelkingestraat will remain open in the coming weeks, pending the settlement of the bankruptcy.
The bankruptcy and thus the provisional responsibility is in the hands of curator Martin Schuring of Tiebout Advocaten in Groningen. The catering establishments employed a total of fifteen employees. It is not yet clear what will happen to the buildings and whether the employees will keep their jobs.
There have been problems with the tax authorities for some time. The Economic Control Service has already raided and in 2014 a debt of 3800 euros was paid to the municipality. The owner thus managed to prevent the inventory of his pubs from ending up under the auction hammer.
Coyote's Bar (formerly in Peperstraat) had been closed for five months at the beginning of this year due to the move to the building on Gelkingestraat (formerly Hot Shots), which opened its doors on 2 June with a big party.
