In 1977 the . opened Citylander, as one of the first eateries, opened its doors. The current owner, Teddy Harkema, has been in charge since 1985 and took over the business in 1993.
With its unique conservatory, brown interior and friendly atmosphere, the Stadtlander is a household name in the city center of Groningen and will continue to exist in its current capacity.
In the main photo you can see the scene that took place in 1986, when the Stadtlander switched from Oranjeboom to Heineken. Teddy Harkema tapped the first Heineken beer from the large barrel that stood on a beer wagon and was pulled by two Friesian horses. The horse and carriage first made a few rounds through the city center of Groningen with the text: “From April 1, Stadtlander taps Heineken”.
