Groningers in the final of NK beer taps

Consumers find the best draft beer in the Dutch catering industry. Every year the bartenders and barwomen compete for the Dutch Beer Tapping Championship. Tap competitions have been organized both locally and regionally in recent months. The best tappers will come to the largest trade fair for the catering industry on Wednesday 13 January 2016, the Horecava in Amsterdam, where the final is held. A professional jury assesses the craft of preparing, tapping, presenting and serving the draft beers and special beers.

Final NK Beer tapping at Horecava
On Wednesday, January 13, 2015, the best tappers in the Netherlands will compete for the final at the Horecava from 13:30 during the Dutch Beer Tapping Championship. There have been 5 regional competitions and a large number of local preliminary rounds, from which 49 top tappers have qualified for the final. The assignment to the participants is clear: tap 2 whistles, 2 vases of beer and present a specialty beer to the jury by pouring it from the bottle. The final will start around 15:30 PM with the 10 finalists, of which it will be announced at 16:30 PM who can call themselves Dutch Beer Tap Champion for a year.

Passion and craftsmanship
The Dutch Beer Tapping Championship is organized by the Tap Competitions.nl Foundation to make catering professionals enthusiastic and familiar with the correct tapping and serving of beer. Since the foundation of the Tap Competitions.nl Foundation in 2010, 300 tap competitions have taken place and seven Dutch Champions have already been crowned after this NK Beer Tapping. According to Vincent van der Wardt, the chairman of the foundation, the demand for hospitality and good tapping has increased. “The level of the participants is higher every year and we see that entrepreneurs put a lot of effort into the hospitality that they and their staff provide to the guests.”

Collaboration in 2016
As in previous years, the foundation will commit itself for a full 100% for a nice national final at the Horecava 2016. Vincent: “In collaboration with the four major brewers and Koninklijke Horeca Nederland, the Tapwacht and the HORECAVA, all enthusiastic entrepreneurs and tappers, many local and regional beer tapping competitions will again be organized in 2016”.
