In the weekend of Friday 30 September to Sunday 2 October, the first Groninger Wine Festival will take place in Der Aa-kerk.
The festival has 32 exhibitors, from liquor stores and wineries to importers, who want to let the wine lovers of Groningen taste and experience something beautiful and interesting this weekend. The wide range on offer at the festival shows wines from all over the world. Wines from the more famous regions can be tasted, such as France, Chile and Australia. But also wines from lesser-known regions such as Georgia or Romania can be found at the festival. This wide range of wines offers something interesting for everyone to taste this weekend.

After the visit of the Whiskey Festival at the beginning of this year, three entrepreneurs from Groningen came up with the idea for this event. Marijke van der Ploeg (vinologist), Edmond Wöltgens (Beans & Grapes) and Pol de Bruin (Brasserie Midi) met after a visit to the Whiskey Festival and wondered why such a thing had not yet been organized with wines in Groningen, and so it happened.

first edition
The three did not go unanswered and the Groningen wine lovers responded en masse. The wine festival can welcome more than two thousand people to Der Aa-kerk this weekend. It has already been such a success that the same weekend for next year, Friday 29 September to Sunday 1 October, has already been booked for the second edition!
