Eetcafé D' Ouwe Brandweer celebrates its 30th anniversary

Opened in the fall of 1994 Pub D'Ouwe Brandweer its doors at Gedempte Zuiderdiep 75-77 in the center of Groningen. Now, 30 years later, we can celebrate this special milestone in 2024. "We are very proud that we have been a permanent fixture in the Groningen hospitality landscape for 30 years," says owner Pol de Bruin. D' Ouwe Brandweer - once started as a hip eatery with an unmistakable interior - has managed to win the hearts of many Groningen residents and the flow of tourists that visit Groningen over the past 30 years.

Stay yourself, affordable and above all fun

In these 30 years, quite a lot has changed in the city of Groningen, certainly also in the area of eating out. D' Ouwe Brandweer has shown time and again that it is a nice place to settle down for a bite to eat and a drink, an extensive three-course dinner (with or without a visit to the cinema) or a pub quiz. "We always make sure that we are affordable and that the cosiness that one may expect from a real café is a top priority. "We are regularly called "the cosiest café in Groningen" and we are proud of that," says Pol de Bruin.

November is a festive month

When it's your birthday, you can make a party of it. And that party will last a little longer than you would normally expect. At D' Ouwe Brandweer we will be going all out with several fun promotions for a month. For example, the first three reservations per day in November will receive a 30 euro discount on their bill and our own two "Brandenblusser beers" on tap in November will be 3 euros per glass. A nice old-fashioned price for a special beer. Of course, the entire café will be festively decorated, because what is a party without streamers?

Give something back

When you celebrate a milestone like 30 years, you also want to give something back. That is why – in consultation with the Groningen Food Bank – 30 guests will dine with us free of charge. This allows us to give many families something extra in the month of November. And that really makes you feel like it's your birthday.
