Tears through Corona, but also tears of joy and pride. On April 30th exists Hotel Faber Hoogezand exactly 120 years, now with Frank Faber at the helm as the 4th generation hotelier.
A piece of history
On April 30, 1901, Marten Cornelis Faber took over "Logement Het Posthuis" in Hoogezand, what followed was a rich and beautiful history. For example, 'justice' was spoken, the convicts were locked up in the 'Rozendal' (prison cells in the barn), the innkeeper was also a jailer and the gallows were located a few steps away at the old Hoogezandster cemetery. The city council also met at the lodge.

In 1910 Faber built a theater cum concert hall which was visited by many famous artists: ”Snip & Snap, the Tik Tak shows of the Groningen coffee and tea factory, Imca Marina's very first performance in Faber, Seth Gaaikema, Andre van Duijn and so on. long list of acquaintances.
A cinema was established in 1912, followed by the Easter fair and summer parties in the outdoor area, car shows, dance lessons (many marriages have started here), club life and bowling alleys.

Seven lean years, seven fat years
“Corona also changed a lot, but Hotel Faber is still the bustling business of yesteryear,” says Frank Faber. ”We will certainly not let this anniversary pass unnoticed!” For example, from April 26 to May 21, we have put together special offers for our takeout meals and a special anniversary dish and we are also raffling 3 dinner vouchers! So keep a close eye on our social media. On to the next 120 years!
